Bootleg Piracy Cost Israel's Software Houses $84 Million In 2005

Israel, along with most of the other high-tech countries in the world, is plagued by software piracy. 32% of the software used in Israel is estimated to be pirated, a figure slightly less than the 35% worldwide. Estimates indicate that piracy cost Israeli software companies 84 million dollars in 2005, a significant increase over 66 million dollars in 2004. Israel's Business Software Alliance has had modest success in fighting against piracy.
